About Us

The foundations of the magazine school project were laid with a clear vision: to renew the bond between young people and written culture. From day one, our goal has been to raise active content creators rather than passive consumers.

The fanzine magazine school we launched in partnership with Esenler Municipality grew into a huge workshop involving more than 300 students from 10 educational institutions. Drawing on what they had learned, our young participants designed their own fanzines. The 75 original fanzines they published were proudly exhibited at the International Magazine Fair, which was visited by cultural figures known far beyond Türkiye, government ministers and the Speaker of Parliament.

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we began in-person workshops and author–student meetings with 639 students from 20 schools across Istanbul. When the global pandemic began, we moved our training to digital platforms without losing a single day, pioneering an online education model. We went on supporting the growth of hundreds of young writers remotely.

In 2020 we took the name Dijital Dergicilik Okulu, known in English as the Digital Publishing Academy. As rising print costs left young people with fewer and fewer places to show their work, we quickly went fully digital, overcame these obstacles and became the first institution in our field to offer online training. We moved both our workshops and our magazines entirely online. This leap meant we were no longer limited to particular regions: participants joined from many different provinces, and our training reached all of Türkiye. During the difficult days of the pandemic we published KOLONYA, a digital magazine focused on health and science, and a special April 23 issue that reached millions with the support of Türk Telekom, while occasional in-person workshops and meetups kept supporting our talented young people.

Our collaboration with the Directorate General of Copyright of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which began with the ministry's support, has continued without interruption since 2021. With this strong public support we raise our digital publishing standards every year and help hundreds of young talents enter the world of publishing by producing high-quality work that respects copyright.

In partnership with the Türkiye Maarif Foundation, we launched our first training programs abroad. Through workshops in Turkish and English we reached young talents across the Turkic world and in countries with close ties to Türkiye, helping them gain in-depth knowledge of culture, the arts and publishing and successfully publish their own original digital magazines.

In 2026, through a strategic partnership with the innovative digital publishing platform MagPublish, we brought all the digital magazines designed by our students into a global library. This integration gives the work our young people produce the greatest possible visibility online and brings it directly to international readers and publishers.
